Success Story: Jacob Silby

From Novice to Craftman: Specialised Welding Level 4 Student Jacob Silby

When I first enroled at NZ Welding, Trades and Services (NZWTS), my primary goal was to enhance my skills in the welding trade and boost my earning potential. Little did I know that this decision would transform not only my career prospects but also my personal life.

As I progressed through the programme, I witnessed a remarkable increase in my confidence level, much like my fellow students.

This newfound self-assurance has been instrumental in honing my skills and expanding my knowledge base. The impact has been profound, extending far beyond the workshop and positively influencing various aspects of my daily life.

Without a doubt, my proudest achievement thus far has been advancing to Welding Level 4.

This accomplishment has opened up a world of possibilities, allowing me to craft my own creations with precision and skill. There’s an indescribable sense of satisfaction in seeing my designs come to life, knowing that I’ve mastered the techniques to bring them into reality. Whether it’s fabricating bespoke pieces or tackling complex welding projects, I now approach each task with confidence and expertise.

To those embarking on their Welding Level 4 journey, I offer this advice: listen attentively to your tutor and never hesitate to ask questions. Your instructors possess a wealth of knowledge and experience, and tapping into this resource is crucial for your growth.

Remember, every query you raise is an opportunity to deepen your understanding and refine your craft.

Embrace this mindset, and you’ll find yourself progressing in leaps and bounds, becoming a more skilled and versatile welder with each passing day.

For anyone aspiring to become a tradie or welder, or looking to upskill in the field, I wholeheartedly recommend NZWTS. The knowledge, experience, and confidence you’ll gain here are truly invaluable and will set you on the path to a rewarding career in the trades.
